Today after not much sleeping, I had a party last night, with some (and more) drinks, I trained in perfect weather conditions, Total of 30 throws with light WFD, 5 of them over 44 feet with 44.5 the best. All of them correct throws in the trig. Then it was over, hit the wall. Still some feet away from more than 52 feet in training in 2011. I have to be patience but know that training is precious. MWC is just 3,5 months away. Then some Stoneput, experimenting with hand and elbow, no distance measured, just trying to find the groove. This week also some squatting and deadlifting in the gym, try to regain some of my lost bodyweight. I did not excercise these for two years. So combined with muscle stiffness and deprivation of sleep my body felt sluggish. No problem, training in general is improving.

Last weekend was my first competition in two years, my preparation was very short. Fact is also I lost much weight, about 30 lbs,
in these two years. I only trained WFD for a couple of weeks, I hoped to throw over 44 feet but it was only about 38 feet. Could not turn fast, weather conditions were very bad. The other competitors had also problems, no records were broken under this conditions. I did not touch any caber for two years so picking up a massive, slippery caber on a flooded field and even toss it (50 degrees) was not that bad, I think. In contrast to the caber and WFD events, the stone put, hammerthrow and WOB were below any standard. The only advantage is that after this disappointing competition (for me) things can get only better. |
