January 2 - Everyone a happy New Year and throw farther!
January 3 - Pat Hellier, the New Zealand master, wins Highland Games Waipu (New Zealand)! His 16th consecutive title! During the first event, the stone put, he was beaten by a giant Chinese athlete called Soso. This giant had not enough technique to grasp the title from the hands of Hellier.

January 5 - Some months ago a poll was placed on this website. The subject was: "Should the Masters World Championships 2014 be held in Scotland? So far the response to the poll was: 70.59% "Yes, in Scotland" and 29.41% "No outside Scotland". You can still vote.
January 10 - There's a very strong field of competitors in the class 50 - 54 for the World Championships in Greenville (South Carolina) USA. There are 3 former World Champions competing: Mark MacDonald (World Champion 2004, 2006 and 2009), Donald Stewart (World Champion 2003, 2004) and Mike Baab (World Champion 2005).
