July 2013
July 11 - In few days the Open Dutch Masters Championships will start. This will be a good opportunity to compare American athletes with European athletes. Next year they will clash in Scotland during the Masters World Championships 2014. That edition is already the biggest ever, since the first editon in 2001. In Europe Andreas Deuschle, Hans Dieter Dorow and Tommy de Bruijn are the big names who will go for a medal in Scotland. Can Gene Flynn set some world records in the M50 - 54 class?
We have to wait for more as a year to see what happens.
July 15 - Tommy de Bruijn wins Belgian Championships. Tommy, after a comeback, retained his Belgian title with a victory over Jimmy van de Walle, 2nd at the 2013 IHGF World Heavy Events Championships. The Belgian giant shows class against stiff competition by winning the hammer event. The competition included also Dutch world class Pro athlete Hans Lolkema, who managed to win the overall title of the Open Belgian Championships.
