April 26 - First Duch masters competiton
The first competition for the Dutch masters 2014 was held in Wapenveld. Defending masters champion Wulbert Stam won this competition. In his preparation he set a personal best in almost all events! He makes a clear statement that he will go for his third consecutive title this year. Wybe Zeilstra also improved and took 2nd place. Heavy hammer was exceptional by both athletets, around 80 feet! This goes also for third place winner Gert Stegeman. 4th Place in the masters competition took newcomer Tim ten Bruggencate.
April 29 - Masters team World Cup
This year the Masters team World Cup will be held May 11th in Kempen
(Germany) again. The Dutch team will be represented by Wybe Zeilstra and Wulbert Stam. Athletes Uli Müller and Manfred Mühlenhaus will be competing for team Germany. In 2012 the duo Mark McDonald and Malcolm Cleghorn teamed up for Scotland to win gold. Team Canada was firmly in 2nd place while team Germany took 3th place. The competing teams (two athletes for each team) for this years competition are:
