April 10- The 13th Annual San Antonio Highland Games (Texas, USA) masters class 50 - 54 was won by Mike Baab. Mike did an excellent job and proved he's ready for this year's Masters World Championships. He won every event!
His Weight for Height was 17'-6'' (5.36 meters) and he threw the Light Weight for Distance 68 feet and 4 inches (20.84 meters).
Another master who captured every event was Michael Dickens, World Champion 2011. He won the masters class 40 - 49 and threw four records. Michael was credited with a 76'10''(23.19 meters) light Weight throw for Distance and also impressed with the weight for Height 18 feet (5.48 meters).
He won the Heavy Weight for Distance with a throw of 54'- 2'' (16.52 meters).
Both athletes seem to be ready to compete succesfully in this year's World Championships where Dickens is defending his title and Baab is trying to regain his title after winning it in 2005.
April 15 - This year in Kempen (Germany) the first Masters World team Cup for Highland Games shall take place (May 5th 2012). These 5 teams will compete:
Canada: Warren Trask and Kevin Fast
France: Belkacem Sahim and Christophe Garault
Switzerland: Alf Grasnick and Anthony Lordi
Scotland: Mark McDonald and Malcolm Cleghorn
Germany : Uli Müller and Manfred Mühlenhaus
April 30 - The second International Highland Games Kamen will be held on May 19th. International competitors like Larry Brock, Gene Flynn and Uli Müller will compete for top honours. Godfried Kleinmeijer and Gert Stegeman will compete in the Masters class in this very well organized contest which will draw about 15.000 spectators.
